Manual Therapy Practice
COVID-19 NOTE: Currently, my hands-on bodywork practice is impacted by COVID-19. I have taken significant steps to practice safely and I am taking very limited new clients. In addition, I am available for somatic processing sessions using Internal Family Systems and Mindful Self-Compassion, as well as guided meditation and energy balancing. Sessions can be scheduled for virtual or in person/outdoors. Information on these approaches is available here on my website, and I am happy to discuss how this might serve you in your health and healing. Please contact me for more information.
Counseling
Internal Family Systems
Internal Family Systems utilizes the multiplicity of the mind to recognize a core Self that leads the system, bringing about healing through relationship building. All parts of us are welcome! A somatic approach to IFS recognizes alienated parts and sub-personalities may be expressing through pain and symptom, and developing intra-system connection and relationship can bring healing. Very powerful and evidence based. Completed Part 1 professional training through the IFS Institute October 2020.
Mindful Self-Compassion
Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is a practice based approach to resource building and resiliency. A great deal of research supports that these practices increase our health and well-being. The value stated from the Center for MSC, where I trained with Doctors Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer, is “that mindfulness and self-compassion are basic human capacities that can be cultivated to support well-being and reduce suffering.” Intensive training for the 8 week curriculum in June 2016 with Dr. Germer, and subsequent Teacher Training in June 2018. Completed supervision requirements for MSC Trained Teacher status November 2018.
Energy Balancing
With knowledge and commitment, Esoteric Energy Healing facilitators cultivate a keen inner perception. Through meditative focus and sensitized hands, energy centers and points are used to bring an individual’s energy field into a harmonious state. This work is performed off the body, without touch. Advanced training, certified teacher. 20 years experience.
Expressive Arts Creative Processing
Expressive arts therapy combines trauma-informed psychology and the creative process to promote emotional well-being and healing. This multi-arts approach uses our inborn desire to create and express—be it art, immersion in nature, music, theater, poetry, movement—as a process to help initiate change, to find joy and healing. We engage in the natural process of moving from everyday expectations into the world of imagination and creativity to connect and reconnect with the joy of living.
Somatic and Bodywork
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. This approach is my foundation for all the hands on modalities below. Excellent for injuries, chronic pain scar tissue. Advanced training, 20 years experience.
CranioSacral Therapy
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on technique that works with the soft tissue structures of the body and the flow of cerebrospinal fluid between the head and the base of the spine. These structures and fluids protect, support, and nourish the brain and spinal cord. This approach is excellent for headaches and TMJ. Advanced training, 20 years experience.
Visceral Manipulation
Visceral Manipulation is a gentle manual therapy that aids your body’s ability to release restrictions and unhealthy compensations that cause pain and dysfunction. It addresses functional and structural imbalances throughout the body including musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, urogenital, respiratory, digestive and lymphatic dysfunction. It evaluates and treats the dynamics of motion and suspension in relation to organs, membranes, fascia and ligaments. VM increases proprioceptive communication within the body, thereby revitalizing a person and relieving symptoms of pain, dysfunction, and poor posture. Advanced training, 15 years experience.
Lymphatc Drainage
Lymphatic drainage is a therapeutic massage treatment. The massage uses very light pressure and long, gentle, rhythmic strokes to increase the flow of lymph and reduce toxins in your body. The lymph system is part of your body’s immune system and helps fight infection. Advanced training, 15 years experience.
